Lithium moved as what it is: class 9 dangerous goods, from packing to bill of lading

Every consignment is UN38.3-tested, packed to the applicable packing instruction and documented for your forwarder, your customs broker and your safety authority. Tell us the destination port or door and the freight option comes back with the quotation.

Packing

How the goods are packed

On lithium batteries the packing instruction, the marks and the paperwork are what let a shipment move at all — so they are treated as part of the product, not as shipping.

Packed to the applicable instruction

Packs are packed to the packing instruction that applies to UN3480 or UN3481 — terminals protected, foam or board separators inside the carton, and the lithium battery mark and hazard label on the outside.

Pallets and a written loading plan

Pallets are strapped and shrink-wrapped. Loading follows a written plan, so the weight stays inside the container limit and the goods cannot shift in transit.

What you receive before it leaves

Packing list, carton and pallet counts and gross and net weights, issued against the final packed quantity. On request you also get photographs of the packed pallets and the loaded container.

Documents

Documents issued with the goods

Prepared against the packed quantity, not against the order confirmation.

Document What it covers When it is issued
MSDS Chemistry, handling, first aid and firefighting information With the quotation on request
UN38.3 test summary and report Transport testing of the exact model being shipped Per model, at no extra cost
Shipper’s declaration for dangerous goods What the carrier and customs require for class 9 With each shipment
Commercial invoice and packing list Value, HS code, quantities, weights, marks With each shipment
Bill of lading or air waybill Title, release and proof of shipment With each shipment
Documents specific to your destination Whatever your broker or authority asks for We check your list before you order
Modes

Transport modes, and what each suits

Sea freight, full container

The default for production volumes: the lowest cost per pack, and no carrier limit on state of charge.

Sea freight, LCL

For pilot batches and mixed orders; the consignment is packed so that it can be handled as a single groupage unit.

Air and express

For samples and urgent spare packs, subject to the carrier’s rules on state of charge and packaging.

Process

From order to departure

01

Confirm the order and the destination

Give us the port or the delivery address, the model and the quantity. If your broker already has a document list, send it now rather than after packing.

02

Incoterm and freight on the quotation

The quotation states the Incoterm and the freight option we are quoting, so the delivered cost is comparable across suppliers.

03

Production and end-of-line test

Each unit is tested and logged against its serial number before it is packed.

04

Packing, loading and documents

Packing follows the applicable instruction; documents are issued against the final packed quantities.

05

Departure and release

We send the loading documents and the draft bill of lading for your approval, then release once the payment terms are met.

The same terms appear on the FAQ page and on the quotation. Where a project differs, the signed contract wins.
